Lake Malaren Golf Club, Shanghai

The project was a Jack Nicklaus II Legacy design course that was a complete re-model of the Lake Malaren South Course including all the lakes and water features. Because of the high ground water level at the site the existing main lake was mucked out as far as the machines could reach in and the edge reshaped. The other two lakes and streams were built on fill and sat above the ground water level, those lakes and streams were lined so that they would hold water.

scope

Cloward H2O did the water feature engineering for this project which included the layout and details of the built lakes, streams, and waterfall as well as the mechanical pumping and piping systems. Littoral planting areas were designed as up-flow systems that moved water past the roots of aquatic plants to increase the efficiency of nitrogen and phosphorous uptake, done as an effort to reduce and control algae.
